Utah Highway Patrol Conducts Vehicle Takedown, Arrests Suspects with THC Vape Cartridges and Psilocybin Mushrooms

The Utah Highway Patrol executed a successful vehicle takedown operation in Millard County, Utah, resulting in the apprehension of a man wanted for evading police in Salt Lake City, along with three juveniles. The suspects were found in possession of a significant quantity of THC vape cartridges and psilocybin mushrooms.

According to the probable cause statement, state investigators reached out to the Utah Highway Patrol to request assistance in apprehending a man suspected of drug trafficking who had allegedly fled from law enforcement. In response, troopers strategically placed spikes along the northbound I-15 near mile marker 146, effectively disabling the suspect’s vehicle by puncturing all four tires.

The operation led to the arrest of 18-year-old Edgar Omar Aguila, who was accompanied by three juveniles. Upon searching their vehicle, authorities discovered approximately 3,500 THC vape cartridges and 23 grams of psilocybin mushrooms. Additionally, troopers uncovered a machete and an airsoft gun that had been painted black to resemble a real firearm.

Aguila now faces felony charges of possession with intent to distribute in the second and third degree, as well as a misdemeanor charge for unlawfully possessing a dangerous weapon. He has been booked into Millard County Jail. Due to their age, no further information is available regarding the three juvenile suspects.
