Two Victims Identified in Colorado Springs Homicide Case

Colorado Springs police have identified the two victims involved in a recent homicide case as Samuel Knopp, a 24-year-old student at the University of Colorado Colorado Springs (UCCS) from Parker, and Celie Rain Montgomery, a 26-year-old resident of Pueblo who was not affiliated with the university. The tragic incident occurred on Friday, just before 6 a.m., when the campus police department received a report of shots fired in a Crestone House dorm room.

According to the Colorado Springs Police Department, the El Paso County Coroner’s Office conducted autopsies on both Knopp and Montgomery on Saturday. The female victim, Celie Rain Montgomery, was identified as a 26-year-old resident of Pueblo, while the male victim, Samuel Knopp, hailed from Parker. The cause and manner of their deaths have not yet been determined, but the police are treating the case as a double homicide.

Authorities have stated that they do not believe this incident to be a murder-suicide. While few details of the ongoing investigation have been released, the police have indicated that the incident appears to be an isolated incident between individuals who were known to each other. They have reassured the public that this was not a random attack targeting the university or its students.

This tragic event marks the third and fourth homicides in the City of Colorado Springs this year, doubling the homicide count from the same period last year. The police are urging anyone with information or who may have witnessed the incident to come forward and assist with the investigation. They can contact the Colorado Springs Police Department at 719-444-7000 or provide anonymous tips through the Crime Stoppers Tip Line at 719-634-7867 or 1-800-222-8477.
