Two teenagers, aged 17 and 16 at the time, have been indicted as adults on several felonies, including murder and auto theft, in connection with a fatal hit-and-run incident in Las Vegas. The teens were allegedly involved in at least three hit-and-run incidents on the morning of August 14, one of which resulted in the death of cyclist Andreas “Andy” Probst, a retired former police chief from Bell, California.
The incident was recorded on video, showing the stolen vehicle approaching Probst from behind and intentionally striking him. The teens have also been charged with battery, attempted murder, residential burglary, automobile grand larceny, possession of a stolen vehicle, and possession of burglary tools.
Under Nevada law, the maximum sentence for murder, if convicted, is 20 years to life in state prison, as the teens were underage at the time of the alleged crimes. One of the teenagers has since turned 18. Both individuals are currently in custody without bail.
