Two Teenagers Arrested in Connection with Deadly Shooting in Aurora

Two teenagers suspected of stealing scooters and the man who chased after them have been arrested in connection with a deadly shooting in Aurora, Colorado. Ahmed Mohamed, 18, was arrested on Friday in a stolen car after investigators linked him to the motor vehicle theft and shooting that resulted in the death of Miguel Angel Saucedo Araujo, 49, in the Del Mar Park neighborhood on August 23. Mohamed, who was 17 at the time of the shooting, has been charged as an adult with first-degree murder, second-degree murder, attempted first-degree murder, aggravated robbery, and illegal discharge of a firearm.

A 15-year-old boy was also arrested in connection with the shooting and is facing the same charges in Arapahoe Juvenile Court. The boy’s name has not been released due to his status as a minor. The shooting occurred when the suspects allegedly stole scooters from outside a home in the 900 block of Paris Street in the early hours of August 23. Araujo and his son confronted the suspects and chased after them as they fled on the stolen scooters. During the pursuit, the suspects opened fire on Araujo and his son.

After Araujo and his son returned home, a vehicle drove by the front of their house and fired several rounds into the building, fatally wounding Araujo. The Aurora Police Department has arrested the individuals on suspicion of first-degree murder and aggravated robbery in connection with the case.
