Two separate shootings occurred in Oakland early this morning, resulting in two individuals sustaining injuries, according to official police reports. The first incident took place shortly after midnight in the west parking lot of the Oakland Arena, following the annual KMEL Summer Jam concert. The concert featured renowned hip hop artists E-40, Jeezy, Larussell, and Bossman DLow, among others. Authorities have stated that a dispute erupted between two groups of concertgoers, allegedly stemming from one group being rowdy and obstructing the view of another. The group that felt disturbed left the venue first and awaited the other group in the parking lot. Upon encountering each other again, a physical altercation ensued, leading to a 30-year-old woman from Vallejo allegedly shooting a 34-year-old woman from Stockton. The victim sustained gunshot wounds to her legs and arms. The suspect promptly surrendered to the police, who recovered the firearm. No additional injuries were reported, and the suspect has been arrested on suspicion of assault with a firearm.
In a separate incident at approximately 2:10 a.m., another shooting occurred on the 1700 block of Franklin Street. A 34-year-old man was confronted by an unknown assailant on the street. The victim, attempting to flee, was shot in the upper torso. He managed to transport himself to the hospital, where he is currently in stable condition. No details regarding the identity of the suspect in this incident have been released. The Oakland Police Department and Crime Stoppers are offering a $5,000 reward for any information leading to the arrest of the shooter.
