Two People Shot in Separate Incidents Involving Dating Apps

An investigation is underway in Kershaw County, South Carolina, after two individuals were shot in connection with meetings arranged through dating apps. The Kershaw County Sheriff’s Office responded to reports of two patients being treated for gunshot wounds at the Kershaw MUSC Health Emergency Room.

The first incident was reported on Friday at 6:28 p.m. A woman had been shot in the vicinity of Seegars Mill Road and Brewer Springs Road in Camden. The second incident occurred on Saturday at 1:44 a.m., involving a man who was shot on Knights Hill Road in Camden. Both victims sustained gunshot wounds to their legs.

The victims, who were not residents of Kershaw County, had traveled to the area to meet individuals they had connected with on dating apps. Sheriff Lee Boan emphasized that while the general public is not believed to be in danger, meeting strangers from online platforms in remote areas is strongly discouraged.

The victims provided limited details about the incidents, and investigators have not been able to determine the exact crime scenes. No reports of shots fired were received by dispatch during the time of either shooting.

Authorities are urging anyone with information about these incidents to contact the Kershaw County Sheriff’s Office at (803) 425-1512 or (803) 424-4000.
