Two Killed in Florida Auto Repair Shop Shooting

Two people, including the suspect, were killed in a shooting at Stout’s Automotive in Largo, Florida. The incident occurred when a disgruntled customer, identified as 78-year-old Eugene Becker, entered the shop and shot the owner, 52-year-old Jodie Stout. Police responded to multiple calls reporting an active shooting at around 11:30 a.m. on Wednesday.

Both victims were found with gunshot wounds in the office area of the shop and were transported to nearby hospitals, where they later succumbed to their injuries. Witnesses reported seeing police cars arriving at the scene and SWAT teams performing CPR on one of the victims.

According to detectives, Becker had visited Stout’s Automotive in 2021 for car repairs and was dissatisfied with the service he received, feeling overcharged. He had also been dealing with frustration and depression since a car accident in September 2023. Based on the investigation, it is believed that Becker intended to retaliate against Stout for the perceived wrong from 2021.

Friends and acquaintances of Jodie Stout described him as a good and honest person who will be missed.
