Two Dead, Six Injured in Shooting at Unsanctioned Memphis Block Party

Two men were killed and six others injured in a shooting that took place at an unsanctioned public party in Memphis, Tennessee. The incident occurred on Saturday night at Orange Mound Park, where an estimated 200 to 300 attendees had gathered. The Memphis Police Department responded to the reported shooting at 7:19 p.m.

During a news conference held at the scene, Chief Cerelyn Davis of the Memphis Police Department confirmed that two men were pronounced dead at the park. The identities of the victims have not been released at this time. The six surviving victims were immediately transported to hospitals, with one individual in critical condition at Regional One Health in Memphis.

The block party, which did not appear to have been issued a city permit, was marred by the tragic incident. Chief Davis stated that at least two individuals are believed to have fired weapons during the shooting. As part of the ongoing investigation, the police are examining video footage to gather more information.

No immediate arrests have been made in connection with the shooting. Chief Davis emphasized the need to denounce such senseless acts of violence, particularly in light of recent events. The Memphis Police Department is committed to bringing the perpetrators to justice and ensuring the safety of the community.
