Milwaukee police have reported the discovery of a 5-year-old boy’s body in a trash dumpster on Thursday, following his disappearance the previous day. The child, identified as Prince McCree, was last seen at his home on Wednesday morning. Milwaukee authorities have arrested two individuals, including a 15-year-old boy, in connection with the case.
Authorities are treating McCree’s death as a homicide, though the cause of death remains under investigation. An alert for the missing boy was disseminated to media outlets on Wednesday night.
The boy’s parents had been actively searching for him in the neighborhood, as described by state Sen. LaTonya Johnson, a neighbor. CBS affiliate WDJT reported that McCree’s father had taken a nap, and upon waking, discovered his son was missing. McCree’s body was later found approximately a mile from his home.
The two persons of interest detained by the police are a 27-year-old man and a teenage boy. Family members, profoundly distressed by the incident, traveled to Milwaukee from Illinois after learning of McCree’s disappearance.
Sen. Johnson, familiar with the family, mentioned that other individuals also resided in McCree’s home, but noted their respectful nature.
