Melanie Camacho

In Madera County, California, two suspects have been arrested in connection with the murder of 19-year-old Melanie Rios Camacho. Her remains were discovered in an orchard on Avenue 20. Melanie had last been seen leaving her job at an AutoZone in Madera around 10 pm on Friday, reportedly to meet with a friend, but she was actually going to see her ex-boyfriend, Vicente Jasso.

Jasso, 23, Camacho’s ex-boyfriend, was apprehended following a high-speed chase during which he discarded several of Melanie’s possessions, including her driver’s license. He faces murder charges. Additionally, Jose Lopez Hernandez, 22, a friend of Jasso, has been arrested for accessory to murder.

The investigation intensified when Camacho’s mother reported her missing Saturday morning after she failed to return home. Shortly thereafter, Camacho’s vehicle was found ablaze in a farm area. Both Lopez-Hernandez and Jasso are currently held in the Madera County Jail.
