Tunisian Suspect in Brussels Shooting of Soccer Fans Dead

A Tunisian extremist, suspected of fatally shooting two Swedish soccer fans near Roi Beaudouin stadium in Brussels, has been killed by police. Abdesalem Lassoued, 45, was shot in Schaerbeek, downtown Brussels. Belgian Prime Minister Alexander De Croo termed the attack an “act of terrorism.” The incident, which occurred during Belgium’s Euro 2024 qualifying match against Sweden, led to its suspension. In response, Belgium heightened border controls following the attack.
