Trump’s Bid for Mistrial Denied in Stormy Daniels Trial

In a recent development in the Stormy Daniels trial, former President Donald Trump’s bid for a mistrial has been denied by Judge Merchan. The judge ruled that Trump’s attorneys had inadvertently opened the door to corroborate Daniels’ account of their alleged tryst. Trump’s legal team had called Daniels a liar in their opening statement and at various points during the trial, which prompted the judge’s decision.

During the proceedings, Judge Merchan pointed out that Trump’s denial of the encounter placed the jury in a difficult position of having to choose between believing Trump’s denial or Daniels’ claim that the encounter did occur. Following the judge’s ruling, Trump stood up and left the courtroom.

The trial is set to resume at 9:30 a.m. on Friday, where further proceedings will take place. The location of the trial remains undisclosed.
