The trial is scheduled to commence for Steven Malloy, who is facing charges of murder in connection to the shooting death of Joseph Fillio in December 2021.
Malloy is accused of first-degree murder and possession of a firearm with prior convictions. Fillio was discovered with a gunshot wound to the head in a Northampton apartment and subsequently succumbed to his injuries at Baystate Medical Center. Since his arraignment on murder charges, Malloy has been held without bail.
This case represents the sole murder incident in Hampshire County in 2021.
