Brian McIntyre, the trainer of boxer Chris Eubank Jr, has been charged with possession of a firearm and possession of ammunition for a firearm without a certificate. The charges were confirmed by Greater Manchester Police following McIntyre’s arrest at Manchester Airport. McIntyre appeared at Stockport Magistrates court and has been remanded into custody until his appearance at Manchester Crown Court next month.

The arrest occurred after airport staff discovered a possible firearm in McIntyre’s hold luggage. Security staff inspected the item and subsequently alerted the police. The firearm was seized, and McIntyre, a 53-year-old man from the United States, was taken into custody for further questioning.

McIntyre, also known as ‘BoMac,’ had been in Eubank Jr’s corner during his recent victory over Liam Smith at Manchester Arena. McIntyre is also associated with undisputed welterweight world champion Terence Crawford.

Eubank Jr’s team has declined to comment on the matter at this stage.
