Toddler Drowns in Bathtub, Two Adults in Custody Facing Allegations of Homicide and Torture

A tragic incident unfolded in Rodeo on Monday evening as a 2-year-old toddler drowned in a bathtub. The Contra Costa Sheriff’s Office responded to a report of a drowning at a residence on the 300 block of California Street. Despite the efforts of deputies and fire personnel, the child was pronounced dead at approximately 8:50 p.m.

Following the incident, authorities arrested two individuals in connection with the toddler’s death. Destiny Deboe, 22, and Tyshawn Haywood, 21, were taken into custody on suspicion of homicide, torture, and felony infliction of injury to a child. They are currently held at the Martinez Detention Facility with bail set at $1.07 million.

The Contra Costa Sheriff’s Office spokesperson, Jimmy Lee, confirmed that the investigation into the case is ongoing. The identities of the toddler and the relationship between the child and the suspects have not been disclosed.
