A TikTok video capturing a Vallejo police officer punching a woman has gained significant attention online. The 50-second video, which has amassed over half a million views, shows the conclusion of a police chase following a burglary at a business in Vallejo. The incident occurred near the Gateway Plaza Shopping Center on Friday, according to the Vallejo Police Department (VPD). The suspect, who was driving recklessly, crashed into a truck in the vicinity of Auto Mall Parkway and Admiral Callaghan Lane.
Authorities stated that the woman resisted arrest and attempted to flee from the police. At around the 10-second mark of the video, the officer is seen forcefully pulling the woman out of her car and slamming her against the truck. Subsequently, the officer is observed punching the woman at least once. Both the woman and the officer sustained injuries during the incident. The suspect was injured in the car crash, while the officer was injured while attempting to apprehend the woman. The woman is currently in custody, according to VPD.
Since its posting on Friday afternoon, the TikTok video has garnered more than 467,000 views, 49,000 likes, and 2,400 comments. The VPD has announced that the incident will be reviewed in accordance with the department’s use of force policy.
