Three Women Killed in Suspected Drunk Driving Crash After Baby Shower

Three California women tragically lost their lives in a devastating car crash on Saturday night, following a baby shower celebration. Yesenia Olaez, 33, Alejandra Olaez, 33, and Lorena Morales were killed when their sedan was struck by an SUV driven by a suspected drunk driver. The incident occurred at an intersection in Pomona, California.

The group, which also included Morales’ husband Juan Manuel “Jaime” Garcia and Alejandra Olaez’s 12-year-old daughter Naomi Olaez, was returning home after the joyful event when tragedy struck. The collision took place around 11 p.m., as the women’s sedan was hit by the SUV that ran a red light.

The impact of the crash claimed the lives of Yesenia Olaez and Alejandra Olaez at the scene. Lorena Morales, Garcia, and Naomi Olaez were rushed to a nearby hospital with serious injuries. Unfortunately, one of the injured individuals succumbed to their injuries and passed away.

The Pomona Police Department identified the driver of the SUV as 36-year-old Victor Siharath. Officers at the scene determined that Siharath was driving under the influence. He was subsequently transported to a local hospital before being arrested for felony DUI.

On Tuesday, the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office announced that Siharath has been charged with three counts of murder and one count of driving under the influence of alcohol causing injury. District Attorney Gascón expressed condolences to the grieving families and emphasized the legal consequences for those who choose to drive impaired.

Siharath, who faces life in prison if found guilty, is currently being held without bail. His arraignment is scheduled for March 28.

The devastating incident has left the community in shock and mourning. Yesenia Olaez, a dental assistant, was in the process of adopting her 11-year-old nephew, and her boyfriend now plans to fight for custody of the child.

The Pomona Police Chief, Michael Ellis, condemned Siharath’s actions, stating that his drunk driving had taken the lives of three innocent individuals and severely injured two others.
