Police in northern Poland discovered the bodies of three newborns in the basement of a house in the village of Czerniki, south of Gdansk. The body of one newborn, identified as the child of a 20-year-old woman, was found on Friday. A subsequent search of the premises led to the discovery of another decomposed body on Friday and a third body on Saturday. Polish media reports indicate that a 54-year-old man and his 20-year-old daughter have been detained and charged with murder and incest in connection with the case.
Prosecutor Mariusz Duszynski from the District Prosecutor’s Office in Gdansk confirmed that the woman has been charged with two counts of murder and one count of incest. The 54-year-old man has also been charged with three counts of murder in relation to the newborns and two counts of incest. Media speculation suggests that the charges may indicate an incestuous relationship with a second daughter as well.
