Three men have been arrested in Rocky Mount, North Carolina, for their involvement in a series of retail store break-ins and thefts. The Rocky Mount Police Department responded to a breaking and entering call at Ulta Beauty on Jeffreys Road early Tuesday morning. Upon arrival, officers discovered that the suspects had shattered the front doors and stolen multiple items.
Following an anonymous tip, detectives were able to identify one of the suspects and subsequently executed a search warrant at a residence on Star St. During the search, stolen property from Ulta Beauty, as well as items from Target, T.J. Maxx, Burlington, and Lowe’s, were recovered. The stolen items included clothing, tools, appliances, perfume, cologne, electronics, and other miscellaneous items. Additionally, a handgun and marijuana were seized during the investigation.
Charles Blount, 62, and Maurice Hendricks, 40, were identified as two of the individuals involved in the break-in at Ulta Beauty. Blount faces charges of breaking and entering, larceny after breaking and entering, and damage to property. Hendricks faces similar charges, along with an additional charge of habitual breaking and entering based on prior criminal convictions.
A third suspect, Turkis Petway, 29, was found to be in possession of stolen goods. Petway has been charged with two counts of organized retail theft and possession of stolen goods.
The investigation revealed that all three men have been involved in numerous larcenies, break-ins, and the sale of stolen items in Rocky Mount and surrounding areas over the past year.
The Rocky Mount Police Department emphasized the negative impact of such retail thefts on businesses and consumers.
