Three individuals were apprehended following a reported kidnapping and robbery incident in Salt Lake City, as per the Salt Lake City Police Department. The accused, Shawn David Cook, 25; Jerry Jermaine Hunter, 42; and Manyal Dak Jock, 32, face charges of aggravated kidnapping and aggravated burglary, both classified as first-degree felonies.
The investigation commenced on Thursday, Oct. 26, when a woman informed the SLCPD detectives that her daughter had been taken hostage from a residence near 300 South. The mother disclosed that her daughter had previously taken items from the same house a few days earlier.
According to the police, the daughter visited the house in search of her mother but was escorted to a back room by multiple individuals, including Cook, Hunter, and Jock. Here, she was reportedly held against her will, with Jock allegedly pointing a gun at her head.
Eventually, the daughter managed to escape and sought refuge at a friend’s house on Gillespie Ave. However, the same individuals, now armed and with facial coverings, forcibly entered the house. Despite the coverings, the daughter identified them as the same men who had previously detained her.
The intruders allegedly seized drugs, money, wallets, and cellphones from the occupants. Police located the daughter at the Gillespie residence and conducted a search, recovering several firearms and other items.
Law enforcement described the men as aggressive, serious about their threats, and having violent tendencies.
The trio was booked into the Salt Lake County Metro Jail on charges of first-degree felony aggravated kidnapping and first-degree felony aggravated burglary.
