Three people were killed and six others were injured in a predawn shooting in the southern part of Seattle. The incident occurred in the 2200 block of Rainier Avenue South shortly before 4:30 a.m. Two men were pronounced dead at the scene, while a woman in critical condition was taken to the hospital where she later succumbed to her injuries. Six additional victims had already self-transported to the hospital by the time the police arrived. One of them remains in critical condition.

Seattle Mayor Bruce Harrell expressed his concern over the frequency of mass shootings, stating that they should not be considered an acceptable activity during the summer weekends. He highlighted the need to address the issue of illegal guns in the wrong hands, despite the recovery of nearly 870 guns by the police through July.
