Three individuals, including a teenager, have been arrested in connection with a carjacking incident in Garfield, New Jersey, three months ago. Christopher Gonzalez, 20, Raekwon Norwood, 20, and a 17-year-old male teen were apprehended by authorities from the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office on Monday. One suspect remains at large.
The victim, a Garfield resident, was sitting in his car outside his home on Botany Street when four men approached his Lexus sedan. Two assailants brandished handguns and demanded the victim’s jewelry, cash, and the vehicle. Fearing for his safety, the victim fled on foot while the armed group drove away in his car. Following an investigation, Gonzalez, Norwood, and the juvenile suspect were identified and subsequently arrested. Two handguns were discovered during searches of their residences.
Gonzalez and Norwood face multiple charges, including carjacking, armed robbery, conspiracy, firearms offenses, aggravated assault, and theft. The teenager, charged as a juvenile, faces similar offenses. Gonzalez and Norwood are currently held at Bergen County jail, while the teenage suspect is in custody at a juvenile detention facility pending a hearing in family court.
