Three adults have been apprehended by the Hayward Police Department (HPD) in connection with a significant retail theft case, resulting in the recovery of nearly $11,000 worth of stolen merchandise. The stolen items, primarily consisting of makeup, over-the-counter medicine, and various hygiene products, were pilfered from grocery stores and pharmacies across Hayward, Oakland, Daly City, Sacramento, and Santa Clara.

HPD, in a Facebook post, emphasized their unwavering commitment to safeguarding the community and local businesses from retail theft. The stolen merchandise has been successfully returned to the affected retailers, although specific stores targeted by the theft were not disclosed by the police.

Video footage captured some of the stolen items, showcasing the extent of the theft spree and the subsequent restitution efforts. HPD provided valuable advice to the public on how to respond if they witness retail theft, urging individuals to refrain from direct confrontation. Instead, they should promptly notify store staff, provide detailed descriptions of the individuals involved, including vehicle information such as license plates, and fully cooperate with staff, officers, and dispatchers during the ensuing investigation.
