Chad Michael Grimball, 42, from Thorntown, was convicted of three counts of murder and possessing a handgun without a license on Aug. 29, after a seven-day trial in Boone County Circuit court. The charges stem from a 2021 incident where Grimball shot Grace Bishop, Brannon Martin, and Larry Stogsdill “execution style” at a Lebanon apartment. Post-shooting, Grimball discarded his weapon and clothes, fleeing the scene. Forensic evidence and testimonies confirmed Grimball’s involvement, leading to his charges in December 2022.

Grimball is also serving a sentence for a separate felony from November 2020. In April 2021, he was convicted on multiple charges, including intimidation and resisting law enforcement. A woman, presumed to be Grimball’s former girlfriend, was arrested for allegedly providing the firearm used in the 2021 murders.

Boone County prosecutor, Kent T. Eastwood, praised the investigative and trial teams for their dedication. Grimball’s sentencing is scheduled for Sept. 26.
