A Texas man, Ethan Rodriguez, opened fire on two suspects who attempted to break into his home in Dallas over the weekend. The incident was captured on doorbell camera footage. According to the video and an affidavit obtained by FOX Dallas, one of the suspects, Aaron Contreras, initially posed as a maintenance worker checking on the air conditioner filters. Rodriguez, who was inside the apartment, denied anyone being home. However, Contreras returned a few minutes later with a handgun and attempted to kick down the front door. Another masked suspect joined in the attempt to break in.

In response, Rodriguez retrieved his own firearm and fired multiple shots through the front door, causing the suspects to flee. The video shows bullets striking a nearby concrete wall. Contreras fired two shots in response before escaping. Dallas police later discovered 13 bullet holes exiting the front door and two entering it. Rodriguez stated that he shot at the suspects upon realizing Contreras was armed and expressed relief that his neighbors, wife, and 7-month-old baby were not present during the incident.

Contreras was arrested on the same day and faces charges of aggravated assault, deadly conduct, and attempted burglary of a habitation. He is currently held at the Dallas County jail on a $150,000 bond. The second suspect remains unidentified, and the police have not provided further information.

Rodriguez had a message for Contreras, stating, “You’re dumb as f–k for not wearing a mask.”
