Donna Motsinger has filed a civil lawsuit against Bill Cosby, accusing him of committing sexual battery against her in 1972. Motsinger is the tenth woman to come forward with a civil suit against Cosby in recent months. The lawsuit was filed in California, where Motsinger alleges the assault took place. Recent “lookback” laws in several states, including California, have waived the statute of limitations for damages related to sexual assault, allowing these civil cases to proceed. Motsinger’s allegations against Cosby did not become part of his criminal trial in 2018, which focused solely on accusations from Andrea Constand. However, Motsinger’s account aligns with the experiences of other women who have accused Cosby of assault. She claims to have spent social time with Cosby, felt unwell after drinking wine he provided, and then woke up in her house with her clothes removed. Motsinger first came forward with her allegations in 2014.
