A teenager in Logan County, Oklahoma, is now facing first-degree murder charges in connection to the shooting death of his uncle. The incident occurred on September 5 at a Guthrie residence near the intersection of Cedar and Two Creeks Rd. According to court documents, an argument between Jordan Harvey and his uncle, Geronimo Quilimaco, escalated when Quilimaco allegedly slammed Harvey onto the ground.
Witnesses reported that Harvey then retrieved a shotgun from inside the house. Despite attempts by a witness to intervene, Harvey managed to bypass them and aimed the shotgun at Quilimaco, firing a fatal shot. Harvey immediately expressed remorse, stating, “I just shot my uncle; please help him.”
Neighbors who heard the gunshot and the ensuing commotion called 911. Another witness recounted seeing Quilimaco attempt to flee but ultimately collapse to the ground. This witness provided comfort to Quilimaco until help arrived.
Logan County deputies swiftly located and arrested Harvey for first-degree murder. However, online court records now indicate that the 19-year-old is facing manslaughter charges.
The tragic incident has deeply affected the community, as the family involved has longstanding roots in the area. Undersheriff Troy Dykes expressed the emotional impact on law enforcement, stating, “We develop a relationship throughout the years with having to deal with this family, so it’s pretty emotional.”
