A 17-year-old teenager was arrested in Villa Park, Illinois, following a high-speed chase with the police. The incident occurred around 1 a.m., after curfew hours. According to authorities, the driver reached speeds of up to 132 miles per hour during the pursuit, which lasted for approximately 18 minutes.
The chase began when the police attempted to pull over the driver, who was allegedly operating a stolen 2013 Hyundai Genesis from Chicago. Despite the police’s efforts to stop the vehicle, the teenager continued to evade them, driving at high speeds. Eventually, the pursuit came to an end when the teenager crashed into a parked car.
The Villa Park Police Department released dashcam footage from one of the responding officers, capturing the events of the chase. Following the crash, the teenager was apprehended and handcuffed by the police. He was seen wearing a blue t-shirt while being questioned by the authorities.
The DuPage County State’s Attorney’s Office issued a statement condemning the teenager’s actions, describing the alleged act of fleeing from the police at 132 miles per hour as an extremely dangerous display of contempt for the rule of law and public safety.
