A 17-year-old girl who was the subject of an AMBER Alert issued by the Dallas Police Department on Friday, Sept. 1, is now in custody on a murder warrant. The alert was initially issued listing 21-year-old Yordy Martinez as the suspect, but it was discontinued after the girl was found safely before the alert was sent.

Garland police later identified both the teen girl and Martinez as persons of interest in the murder of Arturo Pena, a Mesquite man who was reported missing on Aug. 27. Pena was found dead with a gunshot wound in Garland’s Audubon Park on Aug. 29. The suspects allegedly committed capital murder by shooting Pena and taking jewelry from him.

The girl was located by law enforcement and is now in custody. Martinez, however, remains at large. He is described as 5 feet, 7 inches tall and 120 pounds with black hair and brown eyes. Anyone with information on Martinez’s whereabouts or related to this incident is encouraged to call the Garland Police Department at (972)485-4840.
