A high-speed chase in Douglasville, Coweta County, Georgia, ended when a 17-year-old teenager crashed his father’s luxury car. The chase began when deputies clocked the teen driving at speeds exceeding 150 miles per hour on Interstate 85 on Tuesday. The pursuit came to a dramatic end when the teen’s Infiniti Q50 went airborne, catapulting over a guardrail and into the woods below. Remarkably, the teenager emerged from the crash unharmed.
According to the pursuing deputy, when asked why he ran, the teen replied that he thought he could get away. The chase began when the deputy attempted a traffic stop after clocking the Infiniti at 95 miles per hour in a 70 mph zone. The teen allegedly accelerated to speeds over 150 miles per hour, passing cars on the shoulder and weaving through traffic.
The crash occurred when the teen took an exit ramp at a high rate of speed. Fortunately, no other vehicles were struck. Body camera footage captured the final moments as the Infiniti attempted to turn right but instead launched off a 40-foot embankment and landed in the tree line.
The Infiniti, belonging to the teen’s father, was totaled in the wreck. The teenager now faces felony charges in Coweta County, including fleeing, possession of narcotics (THC vape), speeding, and reckless driving.
