19-year-old Elijah Schultz is facing felony charges following a high-speed chase initiated by the Ohio State Highway Patrol (OSHP) and Ashtabula Police Department on Tuesday. Schultz allegedly evaded authorities in his dark gray Audi, crossing from Ashtabula to Lake County, and was seen discarding a firearm during the pursuit. The chase ended tragically when Schultz’s vehicle collided with a Dodge Ram van on State Route 528, causing serious but non-life-threatening injuries to both occupants of the van. Schultz, who also sustained non-life-threatening injuries, was later apprehended and is charged with fleeing, aggravated vehicular assault, and reckless operation.
