Teacher’s Aide Arrested for Sending Sexually Explicit Videos to Student

A teacher’s aide at Juan Morel Campos Secondary School in Brooklyn, New York, was apprehended on Wednesday for allegedly sharing sexually explicit videos involving minors with a 14-year-old student. The suspect, identified as Douglass James, 40, was taken into custody by the NYPD at approximately 12:30 p.m. following a complaint made by the teenage victim earlier in the day.

According to police sources, James, who worked as a paraprofessional at the school, sent the explicit material to the student via Instagram sometime between January 25 and February 5. The content of the message reportedly contained videos depicting minors engaged in sexual activity. Investigators are currently determining whether this was an isolated incident or if there were additional occurrences.

The Juan Morel Campos Secondary School has listed Douglass James as a paraprofessional, but the specific grade level he worked with remains undisclosed. However, his LinkedIn profile indicates that he previously worked as a science teacher.

James has been charged with unlawful publication of an intimate image, endangering the welfare of a child, and unlawful disclosure of an intimate image. At the time of reporting, he has not responded to requests for comment.
