Pop superstar Taylor Swift has made a generous contribution of $100,000 to a GoFundMe page established for the family of Lisa Lopez-Galvan, who tragically lost her life during a mass shooting at the Kansas City Chiefs’ victory parade earlier this week. The Elizabeth Lopez-Galvan Memorial page was created on Thursday with the aim of raising $75,000 to support the victim’s grieving family. Swift’s two separate donations of $50,000 each propelled the total amount raised beyond the initial goal. Over 1,300 individuals have contributed to the fund so far.
Variety has confirmed the legitimacy of Swift’s donations, with the singer leaving a heartfelt message on the GoFundMe page. “Sending my deepest sympathies and condolences in the wake of your devastating loss,” Swift wrote alongside her contributions. “With love, Taylor Swift.”
The tragic incident occurred on Wednesday during the Chiefs’ victory parade following their Super Bowl win. The shooter injured 22 people, with Lisa Lopez-Galvan being the sole fatality. Among the other victims was her son, Marc Lopez-Galvan, who has since been discharged from the hospital.
The GoFundMe page highlights Lisa’s role as an exceptional mother, wife, daughter, sister, aunt, cousin, and friend to many. The funds raised will provide crucial financial support to her family as they navigate this unimaginable tragedy. The page urges individuals to continue keeping the family in their prayers.
During a press conference earlier this week, Kansas City Police Chief Stacey Graves confirmed that three individuals, including two minors, were detained in connection with the shooting. One person was subsequently released, while two teenagers remain in custody. Chief Graves stated that the incident appeared to be a dispute between several individuals that escalated into gunfire. Preliminary investigations have ruled out any links to terrorism or homegrown violent extremism, according to Reuters.
Swift’s close association with Chiefs player Travis Kelce has made her one of the team’s most prominent fans. The singer attended most of the Chiefs’ games this season, including their playoff run, and was present at last weekend’s Super Bowl.
