Taylor Swift Donates $100,000 to Family of Slain Radio Host in Kansas City Shooting

In a tragic turn of events, beloved local radio host Lisa Lopez-Galvan lost her life during the Kansas City Chiefs’ Super Bowl victory parade on Wednesday. The shooting incident also left more than 20 others wounded. Kansas City police identified the 43-year-old host of radio station KFFI’s “Taste of Tejano” as the sole deceased victim of the shooting that occurred as the Chiefs’ title celebration was concluding.

Lopez-Galvan’s untimely demise prompted an outpouring of support from the community. A GoFundMe campaign was launched in her memory on Thursday, with a goal of $75,000. However, the response exceeded all expectations, with contributions surpassing $260,000 by Friday afternoon. Among the generous donors was Taylor Swift, who made two donations of $50,000 each. Swift’s representatives confirmed her contribution to CBS News, highlighting her connection to Kansas City Chiefs star Travis Kelce.

The devastating loss of Lopez-Galvan has left her family in shock. Her brother, Beto Lopez, described her as “the life of the party.” Carmen Lopez-Murguia, her sister, recalled how Lopez-Galvan was in good spirits during the parade, expressing her happiness to be there. The sudden and tragic end to the day was unexpected for the family.

The shooting incident also affected several other victims, with half of them being under the age of 16. The youngest victim was just 8 years old. Two juveniles have been charged in connection with the deadly shooting and are currently detained on gun-related and resisting arrest charges, as stated by a Jackson County family court statement released on Friday.
