Taylor Schabusiness Sentenced to Life for Dismembering Former Boyfriend Shad Thyrion

Taylor Schabusiness, 25, from Wisconsin, was sentenced to life imprisonment without the possibility of parole for the gruesome killing of her former boyfriend, Shad Thyrion, 24, in February 2022. Brown County Circuit Judge Thomas Walsh delivered the verdict, highlighting the extreme nature of the crime. “The offense in this case can’t be overstated…These actions are foreign. They shock the community,” Walsh remarked.

Schabusiness was convicted in July on charges of first-degree intentional homicide, third-degree sexual assault, and mutilating a corpse. The incident occurred after the two consumed methamphetamine in Thyrion’s mother’s home in Green Bay. According to prosecutors, Schabusiness strangled Thyrion before dismembering him, distributing his remains throughout the property.

The case came to light when Thyrion’s mother discovered her son’s head in the basement, prompting her to alert the police. Schabusiness was arrested on February 23, 2022.

Although Schabusiness had earlier pleaded not guilty citing mental disease, the jury determined she wasn’t mentally ill during the act. In a courtroom twist, while her defense attorney, Christopher Froelich, mentioned that she would speak before the sentencing, Schabusiness chose to remain silent, only stating, “No, there isn’t.” Froelich emphasized that Schabusiness isn’t a “monster,” suggesting potential rehabilitation due to her young age.
