Suspected Trespasser Injured in Deliberately Set House Fire in Hayward

A suspected trespasser was injured in a deliberately set house fire on Monday night in the Eden Shores area of Hayward, California. The man, whose identity remains undisclosed, was rescued by firefighters and subsequently taken to a hospital for treatment. Authorities have reported that he is in serious condition due to smoke inhalation.

The incident occurred at approximately 9:34 p.m. at a two-story home located in the 2700 block of Shellgate Circle. Neighbors informed firefighters that the residents were out of the country and that no one should have been inside the house. However, during a search of the premises, rescuers discovered the injured man on the first floor and promptly brought him outside, according to Fire Capt. Don Nichelson.

Firefighters managed to bring the blaze under control within 20 minutes. The first floor of the house suffered significant fire damage, while the second floor was affected by smoke. The duration of the man’s presence inside the home remains unknown at this time.

Investigators have determined that the fire was deliberately set, allegedly by the injured man. However, they are still working to establish the exact cause of the incident. It is unclear whether an arrest hold has been placed on the suspect while he receives medical treatment.
