Authorities in Washington state are intensively searching for a vehicle linked to what they believe was an intentional hit-and-run in Tacoma. On Monday, a man walking his bicycle was struck and killed. The incident was reported around 7:50 a.m. PT, and the victim was pronounced dead at the scene. His identity remains undisclosed.
Based on witness accounts, the collision is suspected to be deliberate, leading the Pierce County Sheriff’s Department to treat it as a homicide. Sgt. Darren Moss noted that the lack of tire marks or other signs of an attempt to avoid the collision further supports this theory. A video of the suspect’s vehicle, believed to be a 2000 to 2006 gold or beige Chevy Tahoe with probable front-end damage, has been identified.
Authorities are on the lookout for additional surveillance footage from the collision area and any relevant dash-camera videos. The public is urged to report any pertinent information. Sgt. Moss also mentioned a potential link between such incidents and social media, citing a related case in Las Vegas where teens allegedly filmed themselves intentionally targeting cyclists and pedestrians.
Detectives are requesting anyone with knowledge about the vehicle or suspect to contact 911 immediately.
