Suspect Sought in Shooting on Berkeley On-Ramp to Interstate 80

Authorities are actively searching for a suspect involved in a shooting incident that occurred on Friday afternoon on the Ashby Avenue on-ramp to eastbound Interstate 80 in Berkeley. The victim, a man whose current condition remains undisclosed, was shot while driving his silver Toyota Camry at approximately 4:49 p.m., according to the California Highway Patrol (CHP).

Preliminary investigations suggest that the shooter was situated in another vehicle, although detailed descriptions of both the suspect and the vehicle have not yet been released by the CHP. Following the shooting, the wounded man managed to drive a short distance before colliding with a guard rail. Fortunately, the passenger in the vehicle escaped unharmed.

The motive behind the shooting remains under investigation, as law enforcement officials work diligently to uncover any potential leads. The CHP is urging anyone with information regarding the incident to contact their investigators at 707-917-4491.
