Suspect in Moreau Lake State Park Kidnapping to Be Arraigned in Saratoga County Court

Craig Ross Jr., 47

Craig Ross Jr., the 47-year-old man accused of kidnapping a 9-year-old girl in Moreau Lake State Park last September, is scheduled for arraignment in Saratoga County Court on Friday. Ross was apprehended on October 2 after a two-day manhunt, culminating in his arrest at a camper van in Ballston Spa, New York, where he resided on his mother’s property.

The young victim was discovered unharmed, hidden inside a cupboard in Ross’s camper van. The breakthrough in the case came when authorities found a ransom note at the kidnapped girl’s home with Ross’s fingerprints, previously recorded due to a DWI arrest in 1999.

Jené Sena, representing the Sena family, expressed profound gratitude for the safe return of the child. “We are thrilled that she is home… A huge thank you to the FBI, the New York State Police, and all involved agencies and volunteers,” the family stated.

The incident unfolded when the child, a resident of Greenfield, New York, disappeared during a bike ride at the campground, where she was vacationing with her family and friends. According to New York Governor Kathy Hochul, she was completing a final lap around the park on her own when she vanished.

An Amber Alert was promptly issued, leading to an extensive search operation at the park. The search involved up to 400 personnel from local, state, and federal law enforcement agencies and firefighters.

Following his arrest, Ross was initially charged in Milton Town Court in connection to the kidnapping. His upcoming arraignment in Saratoga County Court will be his first court appearance in this jurisdiction.
