Suspect Connected to Carjackings Arrested After Cross-County Chase

A suspect connected to a series of carjackings over the past few days has been apprehended following a cross-country chase that ended in Palm Beach County. The chase, which involved police from two counties, concluded on the turnpike in Palm Beach County, with the suspect being taken into custody.

The white Kia driven by the suspect matches the description of a vehicle involved in a carjacking that occurred in downtown Fort Lauderdale on Friday morning. Authorities believe this incident is similar to another carjacking that took place over the weekend, where a man allegedly stole a car with a woman still inside near Broward Boulevard and Southwest Third Avenue. The suspect reportedly subjected the victim to a night of terror, driving her around for two hours, forcing her to withdraw money from an ATM, and sexually assaulting her.

After the car broke down, the suspect fled the scene. Fort Lauderdale police have been distributing flyers and conducting interviews with residents and workers in the area as part of their investigation. A sketch of the suspect has been created in the hopes of identifying him.
