Suspect Arrested in West Bountiful, Utah Homicide Case after SWAT Standoff

The West Bountiful Police have arrested Jake Thomas Jackson, 31, in connection with a homicide that occurred in West Bountiful, Utah. Jackson is facing charges of murder, aggravated assault, threat/use of a dangerous weapon, unlawful installation of a tracking device, assault, and criminal mischief.

On November 3, police received reports of a shooting at a Lowe’s parking lot in West Bountiful. Zachary Todd Carson was found shot multiple times and pronounced dead at the scene. Jackson’s wife, who was in the process of getting divorced, was present at the time of the incident.

According to the police affidavit, an argument ensued between Jackson and Carson when Jackson discovered his wife with Carson. Jackson allegedly pulled out a handgun and shot Carson multiple times. Jackson’s wife attempted to intervene, but Jackson pushed her against her vehicle. After the shooting, Jackson’s wife left the scene in her car.

Police later found a tracking device on the woman’s car, supporting her suspicion that Jackson had been tracking her. Jackson was located in the Moab area through his cellphone and was arrested after a standoff with SWAT. Less-lethal chemical munitions and impact rounds were used to take him into custody.

Jackson has been booked into the Davis County Jail. The investigation into the incident is ongoing.
