Spanish League to Investigate Alleged Insult by Real Madrid Star Jude Bellingham Against Getafe Forward Mason Greenwood

The Spanish league has announced that it will launch an investigation into a complaint filed by Getafe against Real Madrid star Jude Bellingham. The complaint alleges that Bellingham directed a derogatory comment towards Getafe forward Mason Greenwood during their recent match, which ended in a 2-0 victory for Madrid. Spanish radio station Cadena SER initially reported the complaint, and the league has confirmed its receipt to The Associated Press.

The incident in question reportedly occurred on Thursday during the match between Real Madrid and Getafe. The league has stated that it will employ a lip-reading service to determine the veracity of the allegations and subsequently decide on the appropriate course of action.

Mason Greenwood, who joined Getafe on loan from Manchester United in September, has been at the center of controversy in the past. The English player left his former club following a criminal investigation into a possible attempted rape, which was ultimately closed by prosecutors. Greenwood had not played for Manchester United since January 2022 after being implicated in controlling and coercive behavior and assault, which were brought to light through images and videos posted online. However, prosecutors in England closed the case in February 2023, citing the withdrawal of key witnesses and new evidence that rendered a conviction unlikely. Despite denying the accusations, Greenwood and Manchester United mutually agreed that it was in his best interest to seek a new club.

Neither Real Madrid nor Getafe have responded to requests for comment from the AP regarding the allegations. It remains unclear what actions, if any, could be taken against Jude Bellingham should the league determine that he did insult Mason Greenwood as alleged.

Mason Greenwood, 22, has been performing well for Getafe and has played a significant role in the team’s current 10th place standing, despite the loss to league leader Real Madrid.

This incident will be closely monitored as the Spanish league investigates the allegations, aiming to ensure fair play and maintain the integrity of the sport.
