Spanish actor Gabriel Guevara has been arrested at the Venice Film Festival over an alleged sexual assault in France. The 22-year-old star, known for his role in Amazon Prime’s “My Fault” film franchise, was apprehended by Italian authorities during the festival. Variety, the source of the news, has not provided further details on the assault or the arrest at this time.
Gabriel Guevara was set to receive a Best Young Actor honor from Filming Italy, a fringe event that takes place alongside the main Venice Film Festival. However, the award was canceled by Filming Italy as a precautionary measure pending the outcome of the case. The Venice Film Festival clarified that Gabriel’s presence in Venice was not related to any events or productions associated with the 80th Venice International Film Festival.
Gabriel Guevara is currently in protected custody with the Italian State Police, and the court of appeals will rule on his case before extradition proceedings can begin.
