Sonic Worker Fatally Shot After Argument with Customers in San Antonio Drive-Through

A tragic incident unfolded at a Sonic drive-through in San Antonio, Texas, as a caring employee, Daniel Shrewsbury, was allegedly shot and killed after an argument with two female customers on Sunday evening. The 34-year-old worker, who was just days away from celebrating his birthday, confronted the customers around 9:30 p.m., according to local news outlet KSAT.

The San Antonio Police Department released photos of the two female customers on Monday, seeking information from the public. One of the suspects was seen wearing a black tee-shirt and a gold chain, while the other was dressed in a floral pattern white sundress. The argument between Shrewsbury and the customers reportedly escalated, leading to the fatal shooting. The employee sought refuge inside the restaurant but succumbed to his injuries before help could arrive.

No arrests have been made at this time, and the names of the suspects have not been disclosed. Shrewsbury’s family believes that the argument stemmed from the customers attempting to use counterfeit money to purchase food. Jojo Shrewsbury, the victim’s younger brother, described Daniel as a role model and a beloved brother to many.

A witness in the drive-through recounted hearing three gunshots and described the chaos that ensued. The witness, who was sitting in their car at the time, was approached by a shaken employee who informed them about the shooting. Fearing for their safety, the witness quickly left the scene.

Shrewsbury’s sister, Jazmin Robinson, expressed her grief and anger in an emotional Facebook post, condemning the suspects as heartless cowards. She emphasized that her brother did not deserve such a tragic end and shared cherished memories of their time together.

Daniel Shrewsbury, the oldest of three siblings, was known for his hard work at Sonic and his passion for video games. A memorial was set up outside the Sonic location to honor his memory.
