Sherri Papini, the Northern California mother who was convicted of faking her own kidnapping, has been transferred to a residential reentry management facility, commonly known as a halfway house, in preparation for her upcoming release. Originally scheduled for release in May 2024, Papini will now be released in October.
Papini pleaded guilty to charges of making false statements and mail fraud after falsely claiming that she had been abducted at gunpoint by two Hispanic women. She was sentenced to 18 months in prison, followed by 36 months of supervised housing.
According to the Department of Justice, Papini voluntarily stayed with a former boyfriend in Costa Mesa.
