In a surprising turn of events, Nadine Arslanian, the wife of indicted senator Bob Menendez, was declared missing by authorities after disappearing for a week. The incident occurred in Englewood Cliffs, New Jersey, where Arslanian left her home without informing her loved ones of her whereabouts. The situation escalated when her other lover, Douglas Anton, grew concerned for her safety and contacted the police.
Anton, a lawyer based in Hackensack, New Jersey, had planned to meet Arslanian at her home after receiving a peculiar typewritten note from her. The note, which stated that she was going away to see her girlfriend and would return on Monday, left Anton perplexed. As the days passed without any sign of Arslanian, Anton reached out to her family and friends, who were equally unaware of her location. Fearing the worst, Anton reported her missing to the authorities.
During their investigation, the police discovered that Arslanian had left her lights on and televisions blaring in her home. Several days later, she was found safe and sound. It was revealed that she had secretly flown to the Dominican Republic to spend time with Senator Menendez, with whom she was romantically involved. The couple had been in an on-again, off-again relationship while Menendez was in Washington, D.C.
Upon learning about Arslanian’s continued involvement with Anton, Menendez was reportedly upset. The couple had been staying in Punta Cana, a seaside town near Casa de Campo, a resort where Menendez had previously frequented. Menendez and Arslanian are currently facing charges of selling Menendez’s office for personal gain and conspiring to act as secret agents for the Egyptian and Qatari governments. Both individuals vehemently deny these allegations.
Arslanian’s return to the United States was marked by a phone call to the police, assuring them of her safety and requesting that Anton stay away from her. When the police revisited Arslanian’s home, they found her in the company of Wael Hana, an Egyptian-American businessman who is now one of her co-defendants. Another co-accused, Fred Daibes, has also pleaded not guilty, while a third individual, Jose Uribe, has pleaded guilty and is cooperating with prosecutors.
