Second Murder Trial in Death of DJ Fields Enters Day Three

The second murder trial in the death of DJ Fields entered its third day in Beaufort County, South Carolina. Fields, a Bluffton High School student, was shot and killed in March 2021. Ty Chaneyfield is currently on trial, accused of shooting and killing Fields.

During the trial, Chaneyfield testified in his own defense, claiming that he was with Jimmie Green at a bowling alley before the shooting. Green has already been sentenced to 40 years in prison for Fields’s death. Chaneyfield stated that he left the bowling alley and went home, never seeing Green or Fields again that night.

Chaneyfield is facing charges of murder in relation to Fields’s death, as well as two other attempted murder charges. The prosecution presented a witness who testified that Chaneyfield was heard on video in a car, expressing a desire to shoot someone. However, Chaneyfield denied these allegations while on the stand.

Both the prosecution and defense have concluded their closing arguments. The jury has been charged, and deliberations are set to begin tomorrow morning.
