Rashaun Padgett, a resident of Savannah, Georgia, has been formally charged with murder in connection with the death of a 17-year-old mother. The incident occurred on February 8, 2020, near the intersection of W. 60th and Montgomery streets in Savannah. The victim, Lamar Devoe, was reportedly sitting beside her 5-month-old son when she was shot.
According to Devoe’s parents, she was attempting to shield her baby from gunfire when she tragically lost her life. Padgett was arrested several months later in connection with the shooting. On Wednesday, he was indicted on multiple charges, including malice murder and felony murder. Additionally, Padgett faces aggravated assault charges for injuring two other victims and shooting in the direction of three others during the incident.
The indictment alleges that Padgett fired his weapon, resulting in the death of Lamar Devoe and injuries to the other victims. The case is now proceeding through the legal system as the accused awaits trial.
