The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office revealed details concerning the recent double homicide in San Marco. Chief of Investigations Alan Parker identified the perpetrator as 22-year-old Ty Christopher Head, who allegedly shot Paige Pringle and Tara Baker on August 9 near the Hendricks Avenue train tracks. While the motive remains unclear, Parker emphasized the tragedy and senselessness of the act.

Head, reportedly living transiently in his vehicle following a stay at a halfway house in Jacksonville Beach, was found dead from a self-inflicted gunshot wound in Nashville the day following the murders. The reasons for his presence in Nashville remain uncertain. A collaborative effort between the JSO and the Wilson County Sheriff’s Office in Tennessee led to the discovery that the shell casings found at the murder scene matched those found at Head’s suicide location.

Despite an ongoing investigation, details regarding Head’s exact whereabouts before the murders are yet unknown. Head had a known history of substance abuse but no criminal record.
