San Francisco Man Fatally Shot in East Oakland, Possible Suspect Detained

A 39-year-old man from San Francisco was tragically shot and killed in East Oakland on Friday night. The victim’s identity has not been disclosed pending notification of his family. The incident occurred around 10:27 p.m. in the 1300 block of 102nd Avenue, a primarily residential area. Responding to reports of gunfire, police discovered the lifeless body of the San Francisco man in the rear area of a residence.

Authorities later detained a man in the vicinity who is being questioned as a possible suspect in the shooting. It remains unclear whether the victim and the detained individual were acquainted, as investigators have not released any information regarding their relationship. The motive behind the shooting has yet to be determined.

This tragic incident marks the 16th homicide under investigation by the Oakland Police Department this year. Comparatively, at the same time last year, the police had already investigated 21 homicides in the city.
